Eden Star :: Destroy - Build - Protect
Multiplayer Release Imminent!
13 November, 2015
Greetings Pioneers!
The release of the experimental branch of multiplayer is imminent! Soon you will be able to play with your friends and host your own servers.
The plan for the nex
Release of the Experimental branch via Steam - don’t worry, this will be accessible by everyone who currently has access to Eden Star and we will explain how to access this when launched
Eden Star will require a dedicated server in order to play in multiplayer and therefore we will immediately enable players to host their own dedicated servers with a complete, step by step guide on how to do so
Initially, whilst we test external servers, we do not intend to host our own community servers, but once we are happy with performance tests we can look into spinning up community servers for those of you without the capability of hosting their own
Initially, there will be a cap of 8 players per server but we will be looking to increase this in the future as we optimise the game further
Beyond multiplayer, the experimental branch will have no major new gameplay features added (yet!). There have been a huge amount of changes behind the scenes to optimise the game and get everything ready for a host of updates, including the new map (not yet released), and a host of new enemies that we have planned.
New features to expect beyond multiplayer:
There will be a new enemy spawn system that should help us balance the game specific to how large your base, vs. number of players, vs. number of hives etc.
The HP of all buildings has been vastly improved ready for multiplayer
Please note: Saves from v0.0.13 and below will not work in v0.1.0
These are some of the major features we will add as soon as possible for multiplayer:
Basic Character Customisation - At present all players will look exactly the same, besides the odd Splintermite shard if you’)
Clans/Teams - In the first release we have angled the game towards co-op play. You will be able to snap-build to each other's structures as well as sell other player’s structures. Friendly fire is however enabled and so currently players can kill each other and damage each other's bases either accidentally or on purpose! We have already implemented a huge amount of the Colony system but have not yet activated it.
The Colony system will provide the ability to set up your own Colony with different ownership rules of buildings under an Eden Kit Shield. When it comes to built structures, we also have implemented the ability to assign roles to stop both outsiders and certain team members from being able to sell your structures. Anyone not in your Colony will also be targeted by your turrets as an enemy, currently Turrets will only target AI in the first release.
Multiplayer Smash - Only one player at a time will be able to hold an enemy, we are looking to change this in the future as well as add the ability to smash other players.
Trading - We intend to split out all Eden Kit inventories as well as adding further storage containers for players to stockpile and also trade with other players. Currently the player does not spawn an inventory to access, but this will soon be amended allowing players to loot corpses and other players inventories if you want your server set-up in a PvP manner.
Frontend Server Admin - This will be added to enable simple interaction with the server to issue boot commands and fully access any aspects of the server that you wish to change with ease, currently everything goes through a “black-box” interface, external to the game client.
Communication - To begin with there will be no in-game text chat or voice communication, players can use Steam Voice Chat () or another external application of their choice to talk to their friends.
We are still working hard on expanding the player arsenal, with the modular weapon system, including Sniper Rifle, Kinetic Shotgun and various scope attachments etc. In addition to this we have the new 8km map (with mountains, rivers and lakes), and Juggernaut sized enemies that we want to implement as soon as possible in order to start to expand the current game content.
There are many more things planne new enemies, new utilities, character customisation, upgrades, combo moves and a full progression system. All of which we hugely value your feedback on, so please check out our []
See you in the fray!

Welcome Traveller...
... to another Eden Star update! Today we are delving into the weapons blueprints again, more specifically the Rifle blueprint, currently known as “The super awesome alien blaster ray” internally. As with the pistol, all slug weaponry is a design choice implemented for those who just want a good old fashioned way of slinging lead down range, but they are also a specific reminder that the matter m Teslinium, is a finite resource, used for only a few specific tasks due to its extreme rarity and reveared value. Teslinium is marked by the Paladins as a sacred source of power and is the defining factor that helped save humanity from near extinction.
Teslinium shards are often crafted into Spire grade Mata-Tools (Remote Manipulation Devices) and earned by the highest class of Pioneers of the migration fleet providing almost god-like powers of matter manipulation. Pioneers are augmented humans, mutated in order to wield Spire grade technology and cerebral enough to project their consciousness into replicant surrogate cyborg shells. These surrogates are equipped with Mata-Tool/RMD's, used to manipulate matter and harness energy for both creative and terribly destructive means. This provides Pioneers with the ultimate power to craft and change the world around them. Teslinium is in short supply as it is primarily used to power interstellar travel. When used for such feats, it is no longer an almost perpetual energy source, but instead a finite and valuable resource with no specific origin, only found scattered throughout the universe.
Therefore, think of RMD Teslinium technology as new and in its infancy. Slug weaponry still exists, is cheap and is here to stay, but so does augmented tech... Such as Te a Faazah Corp, blueprint and also Kinetic seeker rounds by Aeon Systems...
All of these are Lore based additions that the team want to add as development progresses...
So, back to the gunz!
As with our other physical weapon Blueprints, the grand vision for Rifles is a level of customisation delivered by crafting different component Blueprint parts. Please note: in the first early access release of the game, the modular weapon crafting feature WILL NOT YET BE AVAILABLE but you will definitely be able to craft the rifle as a single/whole item. Customisation and modularity comes later!
Throughout the design process we went through many iterations for the modular rifle blueprint system aesthetic. Each component’s size, colour and shape would need to feel unique yet act like a modular part to fit with components from a different blueprint. Each part would also need to be balanced, considering mechanics such as rate of fire, reticle design, spread, zoom or sight enhancement and the amount and type of damage it can do. The first version of the compiled Rifle that you see in the video, and available to craft in the early access release as a single item, is the compiled Aeon Systems Stock (inc. Grip), Top Rail, Firing System (Energy/Ammo Source) and Barrel.

Evening all,
In today’s blog we will be introducing you to mining in Eden Star.
We begin with the flora (grass and plants) of Pharus 07, which is a rich source of energy for the RMD, a Remote Manipulation Device, designed to harness the planet’s natural resources and establish a base on this hostile world. Flora based energy is used to directly power the RMD’ blast, grab and smash – essential tools against the alien hostiles when you run out of pistol ammo.
Additionally, larger elements within the world, such as trees and certain rocks, contain rare materials essential in the creation of defensive and offensive structures, weapons and RMD upgrades. Your aim is simple, develop your base, expanding your territory and when the long night comes, defend it.
‘Mining’ and ‘resource gathering’ is a vital aspect of Eden Star. Using the Construction and Upgrade Menus to find the requirements of your desired item, you must then explore the world in search the minerals needed to create your shiny new toy. Mining often can be a laborious task and in Eden Star we wanted it to be more than that, we wanted to make it as fun as possible. For us that meant pushing the boundaries of Unreal Engine 4, PhysX and Apex to new limits so that we could create bespoke destruction systems, empowering you to feel in control whilst destroying the world around you.
We have worked hard on the development of procedural physics tree destruction, allowing the player to mine from top to bottom, bottom to top, take just the energy-rich leaves and branches or leave nothing but a stump. A tree will rarely fall the same way twice. Of course you may feel the fun will diminish once you completely strip the land of everything useful. This is why we also developed a regrowth system, a by-product of Pharus’ ability to heal itself, allowing the environment to regenerate after a time and players to destroy to their heart’s content.

Greeting Traveller,
Today we thought we would give you a sneaky wee glimpse of the world of Pharus 07. Until now you may have seen snapshots, this video however shows the hostile planet at its most benign. Our verdant paradise provides ample opportunity for players to harness the organic environment, gathering minerals in order to bolster your defences in preparation of the belligerent dusk. At sunset the tranquil day gives way to the terror stricken darkness, the indigenous and injurious creatures of Pharus, drawn to the powerful energy of your Eden Kit will attempt to swarm your deferences, laying siege to your base and ridding the planet of your alien threat.
For later releases of the game we are working on making the air itself corrosive on the planets surface. During the day sunlight will alleviate the deadly effects of the atmosphere, Meaning
resource rich caves becoming a tempting but potentially fatal foray into darkness. The deep shade of the forests will be an intimidating prospect, forcing players to improvise, blasting and shooting out the canopy to feel the reassuring warmth a distant unearthly sun and providing respite from the toxic atmosphere.
In Eden Star surviving the night requires a conglomeration of injunuity, preparedness and skill. Hunkering down and waiting for the dawn is simply not an option here, on Pharus 07 the night is most deadly before the dawn. Each day on Pharus is a reward, not a given.

Title: EDEN STAR
Genre: , , , ,
Developer:
Publisher:
Release Date: 30 Jan, 2015
What the developers have to say:
Why Early Access?
&Eden Star is a core game developed by gamers, for gamers. We care for the game and the people who play it and therefore, early access provides the best platform to fuse great community ideas with our passion to conjointly see Eden Star reach its full potential.
Components of Eden Star are at multiple s some prototyped, some in early design and some purely conceptual. We want to gauge whether you feel that the core mechanics are working and how you see them evolving. Our mantra is to build and improve from a solid foundation and, although there may be issues at times, we want to work with you to address these issues as soon as possible.&
Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?
&In short, as long as it needs to be. We are committed to delivering a great experience and – depending on development – will be adding new features, fixing any issues and expanding the gameplay in subsequent updates. Exiting early access is dependent on how well the game is received, so the more people that back Eden Star early on, the more the proceeds can be pushed back into refining the game.&
How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?
&There are many planned features that are currently at various stages of development.
The Early Access is currently single player only!
We primarily plan to extend the experience to multiplayer but need to test the physics mechanics that affect gameplay before we commit entirely.
We are planning on developing a greater amount of customization via additional upgrades, weapons and the inclusion of armour types. We also plan to expand on the construction, adding to the available primitive Schematics, Defenses and Utilities to allow for more creativity and playstyles.
The lore of the game is also extremely important to us, providing an expansive universe that can provide story to drive the game forwards. The ultimate goal would be to explore this in full.
For further details, see the Trello board below.&
What is the current state of the Early Access version?
&The Early Access is essentially a starting point from which we can expand upon. The core gameplay mechanics are complete as a single player experience (if a very minimal one) and have been developed with multiplayer in mind.
We have squished all the bugs we have found but there will likely be more that we haven’t encountered yet, being the small, independent team we are. The tutorial is a work in progress, the controls are convoluted and currently no balancing has taken place. We hope it’s fun, but we want you to tell us if it isn't so that we can make improvements. This is why we wanted to bring Eden Star to Early Access, we need your help to make it the best it can be.&
Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?
&Our &pricing strategy& is a simple one. The price will reflect the current features in the game. Over time the price of the game will incrementally increase, the game may also occasional drop in price during Steam Sales.
Firstly, we want to reward our early adopters and supporters for backing us earlier in the development process. With the v.0.0.1. build we released a free, unique 15 page Art of Eden Star PDF book as a thank you to all of those backers who purchased prior to the v0.0.1. Our goal is to reward early adoption with similar gratitude in the future, including exclusive background Lore documentation and more.
Secondly, we want to build an active and involved community to help us shape the future of Eden Star, so we hope the lower price point acts as a lowered barrier for those who wish to help us mold future releases of Eden Star, but without the free additional reward content.&
How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?
&The community is an essential part of any Early Access game and Eden Star will be no different.
We would hugely appreciate you telling us when you encounter any issues so that we can find solutions and deliver updates to you as soon as possible.
Is the game not running?
Have you found a crash?
Is a weapon underpowered?
Is an enemy misbehaving?
Are you able to find the materials in the world for the upgrade that you want?
Are there parts of the game or the controls that you think need to be explained more in the tutorial?
Are you having trouble running the game on your system?
Are you stuck in a chasm with no way out?
We would also like to know if you think the game is missing something vital. Do you have an idea that you think would fit with the world of Eden Star or improve the way something currently works? If so, we’ would like to hear it. Suggestions are always welcome, we may have already thought of it and have something in the pipeline but you may have a great idea we love and nobody has imagined yet...&

Greetings Pioneers!
Thank you for your feedback regarding the last release, especially lisaghost3 who sent us a save file of her HUGE and awesome base and helped us identify potential pitfalls in the spawning of AI waves at night.
Previously we had a condition that meant AI could not spawn inside an Eden Kit shield, however if there were no locations available that were not inside a shield, the AI would fail to spawn. We have now removed this check and also reduced the percentage of a wave that needs to be killed before a new wave spawns along with some other tweaks.
We hope that these tweaks fix issues that could have been happening with larger bases blocking possible spawn locations and with AI getting stuck, preventing waves from spawning. It at least fixes it with Lisa’s :)
Changed how spawn points are created.
Reduced the threshold of AI you need to kill before more can spawn.
Fixed an issue with flying creatures spawning.
Tweaked the mix of AI so you should get ground and flying
-You may notice an increase in the numbers of AI to attack at night. Please share your balancing feedback with this!
-If you are running your own server don't forget to update it to the latest version
See you in the fray

Greetings Pioneers!
This week we are going to change the pace a little and showcase some of the progress on the visual side of the modular weapon system and some of the weapon combinations that will be available. Matt has been busy creating all the various parts as high res 3D models these past few weeks and Lauren has been creating animations ready for plugging into the blueprint system and handing over to the coding team for work on the gameplay elements.
We’re going to talk a little bit about the process of how we create the different elements to achieve the different weapon combinations for a variety of gameplay. There is an extensive process, taking system designs that enable us to make all those combinations look good and feel believable in the first and 3rd person perspectives.
The system itself pivots around 4 interchangeable elements. Barrels, Receivers, Stocks and Scopes. Without going into too much detail over what stats these modify when you assemble a weapon, the intention is to allow a wide variety of different ways to interact and a take down your foes.
Depending on your weapon combination there will be an impact on the following:
Fire mode (Manual/ Semi-Auto/ Burst Fire/ Full Auto/ Charge)
Fire frequency/ recoil spread and spread recovery
Weight (impacts inventory and how much you can carry)
The Visual side of the system centers around the receiver. To allow all of our receivers to ‘receive’ each barrel correctly and make it visually compelling. There is a slide rail that is universal to most barrel types. This makes it easy for Pioneers to simply create a barrel they desire and clip it over the receiver.
Stocks are snap on components that clip and screw into the back the universal shaped back end that each receiver has.
Some combinations needed to allow barrels to interchange with the pistol receiver and rifle receivers, this was probably the most challenging part of the design. We had to adapt the receiver of the pistol and both pistol and SMG barrel (the combinations we allow) to both work and feel good as both a pistol and a submachine gun assembly.
The modelling process to get these parts to fit together and look good in the first person is done in stages. There is a very simple proxy model that is developed for that component using basic rules that keep the system repeatable from component to component, which all centers around the same join location.
Without a consistent reference point the system would be a technical nightmare to assemble, so for this reason all weapon parts are modelled and constructed at the same location in each scene.
High res modelling then starts on each component, and planning for unwrapping and texture baking has already been established by this stage too. ( i.e. if we have lots of parts with their own texture we can better control memory usage for the weapons as we’ll only have one component loaded in the first person at any given time )
These parts when finished are then exploded to better help game mesh development and the texture baking process. As you can imagine when you have lots of components that would actually work when you CAD printed them into a model, it's not so easy to work on assembly and colouring of parts after they’ve been put together.
The final stages of this process are texture clean up and refinement. Normals are baked first with a flat colour map, and masks are developed for the desired PBR based shading in engine.
Hopefully this gives everyone a real insight into the stages we go through to get to our final vision. You’ll see all the revamped weapon models with this system in game soon!
The animations for the system were as challenging as the rest of it but we're making steady progress. Each aiming, reloading and cocking action had to be animated separately for both the 1st and 3rd person rigs. The difference between the two is that our 1st person arms always follow where the camera is looking on screen whereas the 3rd person mesh (you see these on your shadow and other pioneers) require something called Aim Offsets.
One Aim offset contains 9 different poses with different directions (Centre-Centre, Centre-Up, Centre-Down, Right-Down, Left-Up etc) which are blended together. These are added to an aim offset blendspace node in UE4 and hooked up to x and y (or yaw and pitch) values received from the player controller.
Each receiver requires its own aim offset blendspace. There are also separate aim offsets for when you are aiming down the sights. Other animations such as reload and cocking are activated and blended in and over with additive montages based on the weapon combination selected. On top of this we have IK (Inverse Kinematic) skeletal controllers to attach the left hand to the weapon during all aiming and firing actions. Then this upper body pose is then blended with any movement animations that come from the character states, running, jumping, crouching, swimming etc.
Sounds complicated? It is :)
See you in the fray!

At this point in time the game is really there to make you feel like a badass.. attacking hives, using your power glove and your star wars force style ability to slam aliens into the ground only to bash their tiny heads with a baton or electric blade when upgraded. Dont want to do that? Build bases or even better. Make guns! Sniper, AR, Smg and pistols are currently in and if they're are not for you then you can upgrade your glove to fire a laser! Or just be a laser minigun. Still doesnt appeal to you? How about free-running? There are many trees and cliffs for you to climb and wallrun across. If you're still not interested how about stealth. Head to the metal swamp and hide in bushes and caves while giants stroll past.. and if you're still not interested, how about doing all of it with friends or get a bunch of people together and turn it into a generic online fps. There's a lot that you can do in this game and there is a story that is suppose to be coming soon. And if you have made it this far into this review, come see me on twitter or send me a steam friend request and we can hop on together and stream or something. We can build a fps shooter or have races. It's time to suit up and head for Eden Star!
Early Access Review
I have just bought the game yesterday and i have to say that it is everything i was expecting it to be, sure it's a work in progress but i find this to be a fascinating game. It runs at about 40 to 70 FPS on my laptop and i find that to be amazing considering the game requirements. My computer has the following:- 1TB SSHD- 16GB RAM- NVIDIA GTX 850M 4VRAM- Windows 10This laptop is two years old already and i did get the windows 10 upgrade, but i am still shocked that i am able to run this game.
Early Access Review
I love this game. it a right combination of Survival and FPS that only gets harder and harder to play. Don't have much play time only becuase of work but if i didnt have to work it would a lot more. Having the choice of making stuff out of different metals makes it esier to
build up a base. Ammo is a life thing not easy to keep up which forces you to use meele a lot which is effective or just throwing the creature away. Its a fun game cant wait to see what more they will add. 10/10 rating hands down for me.
Early Access Review
Not recommend at this time, its boring as hell after first 2 days of play, Attacks just stop on my fortress, Which make the only this to do is mine and build, literly nothing attacks me at night, thought this was a survival game. where are the evere increasing waves of alien beast coming to get me, gone one week of gave time and not a single attack, boring. I even swithceh to hard mode for advanced players and beat it after secound night, still no buggers coming to get me.lol

beautiful looking game with smooth controls.

I was able to play around a bit and it looks like it has potential but it has failed to launch on subsequent play attempts.
Instead showing me only a black screen and error message about video driver crash (my drivers are up to date).
Which is disappointing, hopefully it will get fixed!

I had previously written a review found below indicating that I couldn't recommend the game without options to defend against griefing.
The developers noticed right away and were helpful in explaining that with PvE servers my concerns would be resolved.
The developers are actively listening to the community and that speaks volumes about the quality of development.
The game play is quite fun.
This game is a really nice survival game with first person shooting aspects, kind of mixed with tower defence
notions and is worth trying out.
Keep it up devs!Previously:I have played survival games where offline griefing is prominent and this game is setting itself up for that same failure, especially after the new patch where looters can take all your stuff while you're logged offline.
I have over 600+ hrs in ARK, which is a similar concept and when I woke up one day Everything I had spent that entire time building had been destroyed and I logged in dead.
I have no beef fighting online but unless this game removes offline pillaging, I can not and won't recommend it.

Pros:- Nice visuals- good fun while it lasted (about 4 hours or so)Cons:- Lack of content

Hard and intense, fun and challenging. Survival, gathering and building are difficult when getting swarmed by mobs but that makes your first turrets all the more wonderful. Multiplayer PVP can use some work. Similar to Ark in some ways but with a greater emphasis on base building. Very complete for an early release game.

Another Survival game? yes... but it IS different, It has a faster pace, day and night cycles actually has a meaning, breaking the routine and forcing you to engage in some action.
Graphics and particles are great considering its current stage in development. The only negative point would be that that it lacks some content, but then again it is Pre-Alpha so it is understandable, and im sure more and more content will be added. If the devs maintain the current tragectory, we will have a fantastic Sci-FI survival game on our hands here.Should you buy it?
If your going to be impatient and pedantic?
If you enjoy a game that delivers new aspects
to a very competitive genre of games, all whilst
you witness its development and increase in weight?
If you love Sci-Fi?
You want a faster pace Survival game with beautifull
graphics and particles?

March 12, 2016 - Pre-AlphaTLDRPros+Beautiful Environment+Smooth, flexible character mobility+Simple gathering system+Build a base, defend at nightCons-Combat feels unsatisfying-Extremely limited base building options-No sense of progression (resources / monsters)VerdictWhile the simplicity of it all is satisfying at first, you'll soon wonder what on earth you'll do next to keep things interesting.Full ReviewAfter over a year in Early Access, I expected more.I played the game for an hour, built everything there was to build, and tasted a few nights of combat. Some people are giggly wiggly over the fact that you can grab the monsters from afar
I feel that overall, combat just isn't satisfying. Your we when you hit something, it'd be nice to have some feedback / recoil / monster recoiling / Something! Even the meelee doesn' half the time, you will automatically target a dead monster instead of the live one right next to it. What irks me even more is that monsters have no loot, in a world full of things to be looted.Indeed, if combat isn't so great, this type of game often falls back on creativity via building stuff, and exploration. I found however, that I could build everything right away! The resources aren't hard to find, o there's no sense of progression. I can't venture to a more dangerous area to retrieve a rare material to build a cooler turret to defend against a stronger monster. I can't discover more advanced tools or machines for my base, I can just build a bigger base to fill up with a maximum of 3 types of turrets - and there isn't even an explanation of what differentiates them from one another.I really wanted to love this game, and was excited to play it, but after an hour, all that's left to do is build more iron foundations and walls, more of the 1 model power generator, more eden kits, more of the same 3 turrets, and watch it all take down more monsters at night. Inevitably, I will fall off another cliff along the way, or die inexplicably outside my front door, and lose all my gathered materials again.Perhaps in another year the game will be more fleshed out and start to rese for now, all that can be done is play around with the mechanics.

Concept is great. Gameplay is fun so far but rather shallow. Gather, Build, Defend, Repeat. Needs more depth. That being said, it is pre-alpha. so long as the game continues to make progress there are great things in it's future. Make sure you save every night. The game does not save itself right now and a crash (which is entirely possible given it's Pre-alpha status) could end days of work. Summing it up, right now this is a tower defense game with some crafting\survival elements, but the sky is the limit with the concept and design. Keep it up devs.

TL;DR : Buy this if you're a fan of crafting/basebuilding games. It looks great - especially for early access - and the devs are polite and know what they want to do. I've enjoyed this game immensely and though it's frustrating at times, it's an excellent title for it's sale price, which at the moment is around $15.I wholeheartedly enjoy the heck out of this game, and it's a recommended title to anyone on your friends list that may be a fan of basebuilding stuff. It's not an easy game, admittedly, and I will admit that often times I'm mucked up by the UI - but the dev's actually listened to the playerbase on that one and updated it circa version 0.1.9.

EDEN STAR is what you get when Rust/H1Z1/survival games have a beautiful baby with gems such as Lost Planet 2, Titanfall, and more. There are so many wonderful ideas. From base construction, crafting, to automated defenses and a meaningful day/night cycle. But it doesn't stop there. Wall running parkour, grappling/riding enemies, unique abilities, and they are working on automatons to help you fight entire wars against other player factions. The game is pre-alpha, but I would buy it again. The dev team posts updates practically weekly, and provide a level of transparency that is on par with or beyond even the famously open Star Citizen. They speak to us, and they have a personal relationship with the community. Unlike so many big corporations that follow strict PR guidelines, this is a group of people that know their audience, people who have soul, and most of all dedication: this is obviously a project of passion for everyone involved. That really does meaning something, because gamers as consumers really care about the brands they play. They do have a more personal relationship with the creators and company than other consumers do. A game isn't like flour: I don't give a ???? about the flour or who supplies it, so long as it isn't wood pulp and it's reasonably priced. But games are something I may spend hundreds to thousands of hours on. They are something people care about and grow to love. That's why gamers are notoriously fickle: because they're passionate. They want to see a game be everything that it can be, and they see the company and developers as *partners* in that endeavor. But most game companies have not caught on to this, and still treat it like any other customer-business relationshipBut not Flix Interactive. They understand the nature of their relationship with us. To have a game company actually listening and communicating is a breath of fresh air. There is no silence to make you nervous, there are no worries about if you're being heard or what's going on. You know. And they don't just talk to you. They listen. They take player feedback. For instance, players wanted to build huge bases, even cities. This was never planned for or intended. Do you know what they did? They began optimizing the game for accomodate large structures as best as they could. The idea for drones and fighting robots arose from this, and it's why they' it all came back to the players wanting large settlements, and those settlements needed defenders. With all that said, the game is a pre-alpha. Performance is not exceptional, though over the last patch it has improved immensely in my opinion. The movement is janky at times, the UI is kinda buggy now and then, and it has its mechanical problems. But that's how it goes with a pre-alpha.But as a cynical consumer, skeptical and disillusioned with a distant game industry stuffed with the same recycled material, this is a game that stands apart. This surely sounds like a contradiction, as the market is being flooded with survival games. Is this a survival game? Yes, absolutely. But it is not confined by that genre: it builds on it with great ideas. This is a game I can love with a dev team I can believe in.If you are something of a gaming philanthrophist, then let me say now: if there was ever a game that deserved your money, it is this one. If for whatever reason, you don't want to spend money on it in its current state, that's fair. But be sure to check back every few months. I don't think you'll be disappointed. If you want to see the future plans, what is being worked on at present, and what has been added, take a look at the trello board here: Players can vote on what they'd like to see added next, provide feedback, and provide ideas. The devs are also active on steam, and have a subreddit which at the moment is practically just updates and patch notes.

I have only ever played Eden Star on multiplayer so thats all im going to be talking about.FIrst off let me get one big thing out of the way. If not for the multiplayer this might have been the most boing game I have everplayed, its a good game but gathering tons of materials gets boring after a while, haveing a freind or two along side you can lead to some of the greatest things you will ever see in a game.As this is an early access game I can not fully review it until it is out of this stage so things like server crashing bugs dont impact the review, so lets get to the pros and cons system I used for my last early access review. [Note more will be added if I see the need to add more to this review, so dont take this review as a final judgement, also there are more Cons then Pros because this is an early access game, of course the Cons out weigh the Pros.]Pros--Game is god damn amazing looking.-The fact you start off with telekenisis is amazing, this is the most fun i'v had throwing crap around in a game.-There are no rare materials, how easy it is to get materials depends on where you set up shop. If you set up right you can easly get access to every material in the game.[there are more pros but im drawing a blank right now so ill update this later]Cons--The games amazing looks can also be a hinderence, also switching to low graphics settings caused my freind to lose frames but on high is frames are average. The ?????-The grind for rescorces are real, its easy to get rescorces but it takes forever to get all the materials you need to build large bases, fix said bases, get back items you lost due to cheap deaths. It is because while you can mine quickly the large size of material rocks just drags out mineing to the extreme.-I said I wouldnt bring up bugs but this is one I have to put out there. You will die at the most random moments, it was day out, I was just running along, I ran by a tree and boom im dead. A tiny ??? tree killed me. What. The. Hell.-The enemys, demending on your luck you and your buddys base will have next to nothing attack your base, or there will be so many enemys that it will lag your game to ONE ????ING FRAME! But on the upside, lots of enemys means you might see the amazing sight of the crab like monsters migrateing from one side of the map to another ignoring you and your freinds base.-The sinper rife is imposibe to use, there have been a few times where me and a buddy tried to snipe at some people who where trying to raid out base but even when we shot at them and they were moveing in a strait line and we shot them in the back, it did nothing, ether it did no damage or it gave no indecation that damage was done. So if you have to use a gun to fight dont use the sniper rife its a waste of materials. This is all I can put down for now, I will update this as need be, but until then this is my final judgement. Buy this game ONLY if you have friends you can form a colony with and work together, playing alone is a drag and if you run into a violent player chances are hes got some freinds who want to ???? you up just as bad. Never play alone.

I have been playing with some friends on one of the PvE servers. Though the game is quite entertaining, there are some significant discontinuities and additional issues we have seen. First, though the game server is supposedly a PvE server, there are no preventions in players killing players. Additionally, and this might be an issue only on this server, a player who appears to have the ability to crash or reset the server. He will attack us while we are gathering and if we kill him in defense, the server will crash/reset and come back rolled back about 5 minutes.Apart from this, seems to be a fun play.

Absolutely a great game with so much potential that I cant wait for with the new power system the new turret and Build mode got even easier then before but at night time man does it get dark even with the lights ( really just glowing ) on the roof But some new reasons to explore and new stuff to build and this game will make it on steam Im sure of that.10.9/10 Must Buy .9 extra for the insane graphics on this game just awesomeEdit: Plus a way to get your inventory back when you die :)
And is possible a sandbox mode to learn all the materials and what they are and just explore before getting killed by the hives at night2nd Edit: Fixed my Bad Spelling

I in whole love this game. It is so far well put together and looks great. The only thing i dislike is that i cant get through a whole day and night without a crash. My game frezzes and shuts down, i cant get anything done or built.
I knows it my comutper for it is a well built gaming computer ment for much bigger games then is.
