郑彦臻2007博士毕业于中山大学,师从陈小明院士,之后在德国卡尔斯鲁厄大学、亚琛工业大学担任洪堡学者,2009年起获欧盟第七框架协议的资助,在英国曼彻斯特大学担任居里夫人研究员,从事相对独立的研究工作。2012年入选国家第二批“青年千人计划”学者并担任西安交通大学前沿科学技术研究院教授、兼“分子自旋与电子结构研究室”主任。其研究兴趣包括:1)以配位化学/金属有机合成化学及磁性物理为交叉的智能分子基磁性材料;2)基于无机框架且含有机成分的半导体材料及其在太阳能光伏电池中的应用。迄今在Chem. Soc. Rev., Angew. Chem. Int. Ed., JACS,

[(CH3)(2)NH2][Mn(HCOO)(3)], an organic-inorganic perovskite-like hybrid multiferroic, shows promising aspirations for the next generation magnetic storage devices, light-weight chips, optical devices, etc. However, the growth of centimeter-sized large single crystals of [(CH3)(2)NH2][Mn(HCOO)(3)] remains a big challenge. Herein, we report a facile, environmentally friendly approach to grow [(CH3)(2)NH2][Mn(HCOO)(3)] single crystals whose size could be up to 10 x 9.61 x 3.6 mm, the biggest one ever reported to date. In addition, high-pressure Raman spectra of the material exhibited the existence of three high-pressure polymorphs at 2.1, 4.1, and 6.7 GPa. The high-pressure phase transitions are associated with highly distorted frameworks, and the phase under a pressure larger than 6.7 GPa induces large structural changes in the hydrogen bond-related interactions, which is different from the highly ordered low-temperature monoclinic ferroelectric phase (Cc) observed at ambient pressure. Our studies may shed light on the phase transition mechanisms of the multiferroic metal-organic framework [(CH3)(2)NH2][Mn(HCOO)(3)] under high pressures.

A low-cost, highly efficient and green approach (free of ammonia) to enrich Nd from other rare-earth (RE) elements was reported by using a mixed Cu-RE metal-organic framework whose structure can selectively crystallize heavier RE elements during a one-pot reaction with isonicotnic acid, CuI and mixed RE sources, and release heavier RE elements via oxidation of the cuprous ions under ambient conditions.

Two mononuclear trigonal-planar Co(II) complexes [Na(THF)(6)][Co(OAr)(3)] 1 and [(THF)(3)NaCo(OAr)(3)]2 (OAr- = 2,6-di-tert-butylphenoxo, THF = tetrahydrofuran) with the same coordination number and donor atoms, as well as similar ligand fields except only for the local symmetry of Co(II), were isolated to test the symmetry-magnetization correlations. Although both complexes share similar magnetic anisotropy of the central Co(II) ions (D = -85.4 cm(-1) for 1 and D = -80.6 cm(-1) for 2), complex 1 exhibits single-ion magnet (SIM) behaviour while 2 displays no slow magnetic relaxation of magnetization with an applied magnetic field up to 7000 Oe. Such distinct performance is ascribed to the different effects of quantum tunneling of magnetization (QTM), which is further associated with the structural symmetry, namely, a strict C-2v local symmetry for 1 and C-s local symmetry for 2. Theoretical calculations also indicate a larger value of transversal factors for 2, and hence a stronger QTM to be suppressed with a larger magnetic field at which the direct process is probably promoted, leading to the absence of SIM behavior of 2.

The design of new polynuclear transition metal complexes showing large total spin values through parallel alignment of the spins is an important challenge due to the scarcity of bridging ligands that provide ferromagnetic coupling. Herein, we report two new complexes, a [(Mn4Mn2III)-Mn-II] system containing two non-linear [(Mn2MnIII)-Mn-II] units and a 1D chain system with [(Mn2MnIII)-Mn-II] units that are assembled through dicyanamide bridging ligands coordinated to one of the terminal Mn-II centers. In both cases, the main exchange interaction is between Mn-II center dot center dot center dot Mn-III, showing a relatively strong ferromagnetic coupling. Density functional theory calculations corroborate such ferromagnetic interactions and also provide one magnetostructural correlation, showing that larger Mn-II-O-Mn-III angles enhance the strength of the ferromagnetic coupling. Thus, the non-linear [(Mn2MnIII)-Mn-II] units present in these two complexes are specially suited because of their larger Mn-II-O-Mn-III angles compared to similar previously reported systems containing a linear [(Mn2MnIII)-Mn-II] unit.

The insertion of alkali metal ions into a prevalent lanthanide-carboxylate coordination motif in heterometallic 3d-4f metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) leads to new MOFs whose structures are sensitively dependent on the size of the alkali ions used and with significantly enhanced effective free crystallographic volume.

A series of novel rare earth carbonates, RE3(OH)6(CO3)Cl (RE = Dy, Er, Y), with sodalite-like (SOD-like) zeolite topologies have been successfully synthesized by introducing an appropriate amount of CO32- from NaCO3 or atmospheric carbon dioxide as a template. Single-crystal X-ray diffraction reveals that the structure consists of the RE3(OH)63+ cationic framework with a SOD-like topology
built from vertex-sharing [RE4(mu3-OH)4] cubes. The CO32- anions seal the 6-ring
opening and Cl- anions situated in the channels to achieve charge balance. After
calcination at 370 degrees C, the compound RE3(OH)6(CO3)Cl in situ transforms into a new phase formulated as RE3O4Cl. Interestingly, the structure of RE3O4Cl represents a new SOD-like open framework, associated with the removal of the CO32- from RE3(OH)6(CO3)Cl. The samples are characterized by thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), elemental analysis, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and magnetic studies. Furthermore, single-molecule magnet behaviours can be observed for the diluted samples of Dy0.2(OH)6(CO3)Cl and Dy0.2O4Cl with a Dy/Y molar ratio of up to 1/440 as well as Er0.19Y2.81(OH)6(CO3)Cl with an Er/Y ratio of 1/15, showing dominant single-ion effects

To test the coordination symmetry effect on the magnetization-reversal barrier trend of Er(III)-based single-ion magnets, the C2v-symmetric organolanthanide anion [Er(Cp)2(O(t)Bu)2](-) has been incorporated with different countercations,
resulting in two structures, namely, the discrete [K2(Cp)(18-C-6)2][Er(Cp)2(O(t)Bu)2] (1) and the polymeric [ErK2(Cp)3(O(t)Bu)2(THF)2]n (2), where 18-C-6 = 18-crown-6 ether and Cp = cyclopentadienide. Surprisingly, the polymeric 2 exhibits much stronger field-induced magnetization relaxing behavior compared to the monomeric 1. Such disparate dynamic magnetism is attributable to the subtle coordination environmental perturbations of the central Er(III) ions

An air-stable iron(ii) chain compound [Fe(phen)(Cl)2]n (, phen = 1,10-phenanthroline) was prepared and exhibits intrachain ferromagnetic interactions as well as competing interchain antiferromagnetic interactions that
are mediated by pi-pi stacking of the phen ligands, resulting in metamagnetic behaviour. The interchain interactions can be altered by changing the external magnetic field, and disparate magnetic dynamics was thus observed from zero to the critical field of 1500 Oe. Zero-field cooled (ZFC) and field-cooled (FC) magnetization and heat capacity measurements indicate that long-range antiferromagnetic ordering occurs at lower fields, and this ordering disappears when the external field is larger than 1500 Oe. The low-frequency ac susceptibility data are consistent with the exponential increase of the temperature-dependent dc data, indicating a Glauber-type dynamics under the field of 1500 Oe. Thus, is considered as a metamagnetic single-chain magnet. For further analysis, a discrete hexametallic segment of the chain, [Fe6(phen)6(Cl)12] (), was also isolated and was shown to possess a high-spin ground state and display slow magnetic relaxations like single-molecule magnets.
Magnetic analysis using CONDON suggests weak ferromagnetic interactions between the metal centres. The polymeric compound can be viewed as being constructed using the hexametallic unit which is of a low energy barrier, suggesting the significance of intrachain ferromagnetic interactions in enhancing the spin-reversal energy barrier of the short chains

Nanoaggregates, novel nano/micron hierarchical structures with large surface area and significantly reduced grain boundary, are potentially useful electroactive materials. Herein, we report a facile, low-cost and scalable synthesis of &-Fe2O3 nanoaggregates by hydrothermally treating a single precursor of a star-shaped polymeric iron(III) acetate at 200&C. The nanoaggregates possess a surface area of 47.84 m2 g-1 and a small crystalline size of 10 nm. The application of the nanoaggregates as the anode in a lithium ion battery was explored. Although the nanoaggregates cannot afford a large volume change during the lithium insertion/extraction process, the use of their core/shell composites with reduced graphene oxide (rGO) (&-Fe2O3@rGO) has led to a stable cycling performance over 90 cycles at a current density of 0.1 A g-1, a high specific capacity of 1787.27 mA h g-1 for the 90th cycle at 0.1 A g-1 and a good rate capability at various current densities. It is believed that the graphene shell helps to increase the conductivity of the composite electrodes, maintain the structural integrity of the nanoaggregates, enhance the mechanical stability of the electrode and confine a stabilized solid-electrolyte interphase (SEI) layer on the surface of the composite. & The Royal Society of Chemistry 2015.
