Three new products debuted on the sales charts this week for the United States Mint. Their entrance boosted sales across a range of other products.
The new 2013 Mint Set, 2013-P Perry’s Victory ATB 5 Oz Silver Coin and 2013-W Uncirculated Gold Eagle helped to broaden sales among other U.S. Mint products
Last week’s sales report showed that collectors were freer with their money when 86 numismatic products notching improved stats. The uptrend continued in this latest round as the number of products with stronger week-over-week sales went up to 100.
Before getting into specific performances for the three newest products, here is the list of the top 12 weekly sellers for the Mint:

Sales Debuts of Mint Set, Perry’s Victory 5 Oz Silver Coin and Uncirculated Gold Eagle
Most sought by collectors was the new 2013 U.S. Mint Uncirculated Coin Set or 2013 Mint Set. Sales hit 157,783 units during its release on June 4 through to June 10. The total was on par with last year’s set which had opening sales of 164,459 with an extra day in the reporting period. An earlier coin news article covered the

Perry’s Victory Five Ounce Silver Uncirculated Coins launched a week ago Thursday and had sales of 7,966 by Monday. It is the second ATB five ounce uncirculated coin of the year. The first one commemorating White Mountain National Forest recorded debut sales of 10,605 during the same number of days. While the new Perry’s Victory coin opened slower than it, it moved quicker than the starts for four of the five coins released in 2012.
Finally and also released a week ago, the 2013-W $50 Uncirculated American Gold Eagle Coin logged five-day sales of 1,448.
It seems likely that some collectors remained on the sidelines as they expected the coin’s price to drop. It did. In responding to lower gold prices, the U.S. Mint on Wednesday cut the price of the uncirculated Gold Eagle to $1,675 from $1,725. For more about that and other pricing cuts, . Last year’s uncirculated Gold Eagle opened with higher sales of 1,949.
No Longer Available Products and Products Selling Out
Since last week’s sales report, there are several U.S. Mint products that are no longer available or have sold out. They include:

in the coming months as returns and cancellations occur.
Rolls and bags of the 2012 Acadia National Park quarters went off sale earlier this week. When they were released on June 11, 2012, the U.S. Mint indicated they would be available for one year. The one-year mark was on Tuesday. The latest sales figures for each of the products are offered in the tables below.
Lastly, boxes with 250 Benjamin Harrison Presidential $1 Coins from the Denver Mint sold out. Still available are 25-coin rolls, 100-coin bags and 500-coin boxes from both U.S. Mint facilities in Denver and Philadelphia.
2013-W $50 Proof Gold Buffalo Outperforming 2013-W $50 Proof Gold Eagle
In a surprising development because it happened so quick, sales of the 2013-W $50 Proof American Gold Buffalo coin at 9,391 are higher than sales of 8,775 for the 2013-W $50 American Gold Eagle coin.
The one-ounce proof Gold Buffalo was released exactly three weeks ago, . The proof American Gold Eagles had the advantage as they have been on sale since April 18, 2013.

Bottom Line: The significant sell-off in China's bond market on Thursday post theFed rate hike has led to market concerns of a liquidity crunch in China. Webelieve that while the PBoC has turned less accommodative on concerns overasset bubble risks, the scope of tightening will be modest and the central bank islikely to inject liquidity via OMOs in the near term to avoid a sharp shock.
However, the divergent monetary policy stance between China and the US anddeclining investment return in China will keep capital outflows and currencydepreciation alive in China. We expect policy makers to continue with the currentapproach of gradual CNY depreciation to 7.30 against the USD by end-2017, andfurther intensify capital controls.
What is new: The US Fed hiked the benchmark interest rate by 25bp inDecember's meeting, and the FOMC median forecast shifted up to three morehikes in 2017 (although our US economics team believes the Fed will still delivertwo hikes next year as Chairman Yellen views the outlook as highly uncertain). InChina, there was a dramatic sell-off in the bond market on Thursday. Inparticular, the 10Y government bond yield jumped 22bp to 3.45%, the highestlevel since August 2015 (Exhibit 1), which raised market concerns on a liquiditycrunch. In response to tighter interbank liquidity, the PBoC has injectedRmb205bn on a net basis via open market operations (OMOs) over the past twodays (Exhibit 2) compared to a liquidity withdrawal/smaller liquidity injection inthe past few weeks, and both interbank overnight and seven-day rates haveremained relatively stable at 2.31% and 2.51%, respectively, the highest level sinceSeptember 2016 (Exhibit 3). On the currency front, the USD/CNY depreciated by0.47% to 6.94 on Thursday, while the trade-weighted CNY index has remainedlargely stable, after an appreciation of 0.56% on Wednesday.
