SABIC Innovative Plastics Japan LLC. is one of the subdivision of SABIC Innovation Plastics, a division of a global leader of petrochemical industry of Saudi Basic Industries Corporation (Here in after SABIC)
having the headquarters in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.　
About 35 years ago, SABIC was started by a national project, for which technologies are supplied by Japanese Mitsubishi group, to commercialize Saudi Arabian oil field gases. Since then, we keep long-term relationships with many Japanese companies.
This plant was originally a plant of GE Plastics, subsidiary of GE(General Electric Company). In 2007, GE Plastics was acquired by SABIC, and it was reborn as SABIC Innovative Plastics Japan LLC.
The main business is manufacturing and marketing of various plastics, special films and sheets.
Our produced plastics are used not only in Japan, but also in all over the world.
From a housing of digital cameras and noise reduction walls in expressways so on, they are used in every type of products from small to huge in size within our daily life. Moka made plastics were used for the roof of
a football stadium built for the World Cup.
Tochigi Prefecture and its Business Environment
In compared with the time when GE plastic was developed in Moka, logistics has been drastically improved.
New Expressway was developed, and Shinkansen was newly opened and a number of it's train has been increased too.
Our materials used to be imported through Tokyo or Yokohama port from America or Europe, nowadays, the port in Ibaraki can be easily accessed through the newly opened Kitakanto Expressway. It is advantageous for us to have a variety of options for logistics.
In Tochigi Prefecture, it seems easier to secure employment.
Since previous GE plastics, we continue to employ within Tochigi with keeping a contact with various research institutes such as Utsunomiya university.
Closely located academic facilities provide an accessible environment for our technical consultations.
Because of many years of history since its founding with stable employment,
a few replacement of employees also an advantage for us.
Reliability for stable quality of products by succeeded technologies are retained in our customers, and it lead to company's stability and reliability.

We are handling almost all of plastic business fields of SABIC, mainly products for Japanese customers.
Japanese clients are really demanding for quality than any other countries in the world.
Technically, our plant has been advanced than any other our plants in the world, so we are able to work with such Japanese customers who require high quality of products.
W e are developing a recycling technic of plastics which returns waste plastics to original chemicals once, not by recycling plastics as it is.
Because plastics become weaker if heat are added many times, the number of recycling
of plastic is limited.
Therefore, we are the first plant among our plants, to contribute for recycling of plastics by developing the technology to remanufacture
plastics of certain strength by returning them to the status of original chemicals once.
Also our business includes, manufacturing of high functional plastics by sandwiching different types of waste plastics, and proposing of easy recyclable plastic products.
Japan is the most advanced country for a separate collection of waste.
We are in an environment that plastics may be recycled easily, and also in a country of limited resources, so we are striving to the planning of recycle-recirculation system of plastics for the first time in the world.
Within our laboratory, a study room, equipped with a demonstration machine for molding and extruders, is arranged for making samples. Color mixing facilities and various types of dies are also arranged.
By actually seeing a sample and by having an operation of machine, customers are able to confirm how the final product looks like by themselves.
In addition, a production line of small-volume products is available for shorter delivery. For example, in the case of mobile phones, a quick delivery with small quantity is required in many different colors for the same models. The small production line can immediately respond to such a request.
Such detailed services are very unique and only available in Japan, can not be seen in other plants in the world.
Contributing Local Community
As for contributions for the local community, cleaning activities of the Inokashira park in Moka are held.
Also, we sometimes organize a seminar of plastics for design and technical engineers for companies in Tochigi providing lectures by our engineers.
Further, so called "eco-hashi (chop sticks)" products, which made of a material decomposed to the chemicals from waste PET bottles, are well-accepted for its environment friendliness. They are widely used at cafeterias in
schools or public offices.
Lunch boxes or trays made by the same remanufacturing method are used also for serving foods in schools or hospitals.
Some people are still maintaining an image that plastics are not good for environment, or they are creating more waste.
In order to taking out such an image and to have environmental plastics be used, we would like to propose a responsible solution as a global leading company of petrochemical industry responsively.
