KELLER'S TNA IMPACT REPORT 10/30: Scott Steiner joined the MEM, Angle vs. Aby , Nash & Booker vs. Styles & Joe, Turning Point hype
Nov 9, 2008 - 2:14:45 PM
By Wade Keller, Torch editor
KELLER'S TNA IMPACT REPORT
OCTOBER 30, 2008
TAPED IN ORLANDO, FLA.
AIRED ON SPIKE TV
-The show opened with a summary of the formation of the Main Event Mafia (MEM) and Mick Foley's su equent a ouncement of an ownership stake in TNA.
-The TNA Impact opening aired, the new one that debuted last week with more of an edge and hard rock feel. Mike Tenay and Don West introduced the show from the newly redesigned Impact Zone. The new big screen above the u er deck of fa looks great as does the wider entrance stage and much more impre ive pyro show. As bad as last week's setting was in Vegas, this is a huge improvement. It actually has the feel of a good-sized arena now rather than a soundstage for a cheesy reality show.
-A.J. Styles and Samoa Joe walked out and reacted to the formation of the MEM. Styles oke first and said three of the members are re o ible for one major wrestling company going out of busine . He said TNA has been growing; he cited last week's HD live show from Vegas as evidence. Styles said he was disa ointed that some TNA wrestlers sat back and didn't help last week when they needed it. Styles said too many people are waiting for a promotion rather than take it. Styles asked who has the balls to cro the line and stand with he and Joe. The crowd chanted , "A.J., A.J."
The music of Jo er Jay Lethal started and he walked to the ring nodding. Co equences Creed, Petey Williams, ODB, and Eric Young walked out. With all due re ect, that's kind of a sad group of su orters relative to the clout and credibility of the MEM. Joe took the mic and said he a reciates them coming out there. Then the music of the Motor City Machine Gu started. (They need new music; once the lyrics kick in, it's really not a fit for their characters.) Alex Shelley called their su orters sheep. He asked Joe to convince them one more time why they should join them in their battle. Joe said it's not his war or A.J.'s war, but it's their war - and they're either in or out. Joe said it'd be best for him to fight agai t those who have kept him out of the main event scene. (The problem here is that the MMGs have lost so many matches on TV, it's hard to think someone else has been holding them back. For TNA bookers to make this a storyline that makes se e, MMG should have been wi ing matches but not being moved up the card.) Alex replied, "God, I wish you had a mint right now." Joe ste ed back. Shelley said he doe 't think Joe cares about them. Joe sla ed Shelley. Styles ste ed between them.
The Main Event Mafia's mafia-style music played and they ste ed out onto the stage. They have a huge "MEM" logo on the big screen. They all dre ed in high-end suits. Angle said the younger wrestlers in the ring are a disgrace to themselves, the busine , TNA, and all of the fa . Angle said they are a family. He said they have over 75 years of experience among them. He said that kind of experience demands re ect. He said they deserve a thank you. Nash addre ed Joe and said he tried to teach him how to act around the stars. He said in re o e he it in his face. He said the reason Scott Hall didn't show up at that PPV was because "you weren't worth the rub." Nash said, "In retro ect, he was right." He said if they want a war, they got a war. Booker called them bums. He said the war starts tonight and by the end of the year, there won't be any of them left. He said it's all about "The Five." West wondered what that meant. There were five people on stage, counting Sharmell. West, though, wondered aloud whether there was a fifth member. At least if they're also known as "The Five," it precludes (somewhat) them bloating the faction like what hurt the NWO.
-Backstage, Jeremy Borash got Jeff Jarrett's reaction. Jarrett said he knows Styles and Joe are ready for the war and don't need his help. Mick Foley walked in and asked Jarrett if he minded if he improved a bit. Foley said he wants to have a heart-to-heart with Sting. As Jarrett left the room, Foley asked where he was going. Jarrett said he had to "take a Kurt." Foley said, "Be sure to wipe your angle." Foley said as an executive shareholder, he has to keep all of his investments in line, "e ecially Sting."
[Commercial Break]
-Lauren interviewed The Beautiful People. Angelina Love said in HD everyone can see all of Lauren's blemishes and pock marks. She also asked why Christy Hemme is suddenly a wrestler. She told her: "Hey, Hemme, why don't you stick to the pages of Playboy with your silicone boobolas and your over-botoxed doggie face, okay?"
She offered to help her with a makeover. Velvet Sky said: "ODB, what are you? A dude? A tra y? You're about as female as Rosie O'Do ell. Let me tell you something, Butch, don't blame the Beautiful People because you're a horse-faced slut. Just because you OD'd on ugly pills doe 't make us the bad guys. We are sick to death of the jealousy. We didn't ask to be beautiful. We were just born that way."
1 -- CHRISTY HEMME & ODB vs. ANGELINA LOVE & VELVET SKY (w/Cute Kip)
After an early flurry by ODB, the BPs took over on Christy with double-teaming. At 2:00 ODB got a hot-tag and to ed around Sky. Four-way action broke out. When it illed to ringside, Christy leaped off the ring apron. Kip caught her. ODB meanwhile powerslammed Sky for the win.
WINNERS: ODB & Christy Hemme in 3:00.
-Lauren interviewed Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin backstage. She said they didn't a ear to be willing to accept Samoa Joe reaching out for help. Shelley said things aren't always what they a ear to be. Joe walked up and said a arently they have a misunderstanding. Sabin asked for them to start over with a clean slate. He said they understand what he's trying to do for the company, "so we're in." Joe said when it comes to allies he has trust i ues, so he said when shots are fired, he'll wait to see if the shots are fired back.
[Commercial Break]
-Borash interviewed Eric Young backstage. He said he's been with TNA for years dating back to Nashville. He said after what Angle did to his friends, he's sick of taking it lying down. He said he wants to show the world who the real Eric young is. He said he'll be in the trenches with Joe and Styles. Borash asked for the finger-eye gesture thingy, but Young looked at him seriously and said, "Not tonight."
2 -- ERIC YOUNG vs. JAMES STORM (w/Robert Roode, Mi Jackie)
Young didn't flinch at the pyro and walked to the ring seriously. West said sometimes people just need a cause, something serious they can believe in and get behind. West said Young has a new air of confidence about him. Young went on an early aggre ive flurry. At 1:00 Storm knocked Young to ringside, then Roode stomped on him at ringside. Storm gave Young the Eye of the Storm for a two count. As Jackie, now dre ed as a Wall Street Executive, distracted the ref, Roode shot beer toward Young, but Young ducked and the beer got in Storm's eyes. Young rolled him up for the win. Afterward, Storm and Roode beat on Young. Sabin and Shelley made the save, a nice follow-up to Joe's challenge to them minutes earlier to prove their loyalty through actio . They helped Young to his feet.
WINNER: Storm in 3:00.
-A vignette aired on the TNA Knockouts.
-Lauren interviewed Taylor and Roxxi backstage. She asked them what they're doing with weapo when they're not even scheduled for a match. Roxxi, who has a new potty mouth totally contrary to her vignettes of just last month, swore up a storm (all bleeped) and then blew off Lauren.
[Commercial Break]
-Tenay plugged that TNA's we ite features a political roundtable led by Mick Foley.
-A vignette aired on Suicide with phrases on the screen such as "Patience will be rewarded" and "Their punishment will be severe."
-Tenay and West were shown on camera. Tenay welcomed fa to the new HD Impact Zone. They raved about their new digs. The background of Tenay and West is a real upgrade, with the stage and new big screen behind then rather than just a flat screen monitor. They plugged the main event and Foley's interview with Sting. What's scary is how little idea you'd have that there's a PPV on Sunday based on this show so far.
-As Borash attempted to interview Awesome Kong and Raesha Saeed backstage, Roxxi and Taylor attacked them with po and then threw Kong onto a table of food in the locker room. Who wants to eat catered food on a table near a bathroom and lockers in the first place?
[Commercial Break]
-Sheik Abdul Bashir walked to ringside to join Tenay and West on commentary. He di layed his X Division title on the table in front of him.
3 -- TANAHASHI & VOLADOR vs. MOTOR CITY MACHINE GUNS
Tenay shines when he gives background on international wrestlers almost nobody knows or cares about. I'm not sure anyone cares about them when he's done because TNA never kee them around long enough to form a bond with fa , but Tenay gives it a good try. They really didn't establish at all what they were doing here, if they were here for long or just a one-night visit, or what a win would mean to them and TNA. So basically, sit back and enjoy a bunch of cool moves that may or may not have any ramificatio . Early dives and flying moves by Volador and Tanahashi. Bashir talked about Rhino being u et with his so-called anti-American rhetoric. He argued that he is as much of an American as Rhino and has ever right to talk about problems he has with the country. A minute later he said he was rooting for Volador & Tanahashi because he wants to show that international talent always is the best. So is Bashir an American or an "international talent"?
WINNERS: Machine Gu in 4:00.
STAR RATING: *3/4
-Some mixed signals there. Bashir ranted afterward, u et that the Gu won. He entered the ring and chewed out Volador. Rhino entered the ring and surprised him with a Gore.
[Commercial Break]
-Tenay threw Lauren interviewing Christian Cage backstage. Christian mocked Booker T for making up a title and giving it to himself. Then he accepted the challenge to face Booker for that title. Christian said if he took sides, which he doe 't feel the need to do, it certainly wouldn't be with the Main Event Mafia. He said Booker is confused about who he really is, one week hunting elephants in Africa and the next a ga ta. Christian said he knows who he is and the side he ends up on is the side he's always been on.
4 -- BOOKER T (w/Sharmell) & KEVIN NASH vs. A.J. STYLES & SAMOA JOE
Nash began the match agai t Styles. Nash gra ed the top rope to avoid a leverage takedown attempt by Styles. Nash poked at Styles's eyes with his reach advantage, frustrating Styles. Then he hit the kneelift and elbows. Styles came back with a ringboard dropkick. Joe dove through the ropes at Booker at ringside, who attempted to stop Styles seconds earlier. They cut to a break at 2:00.
[Commercial Break]
After the break Joe was in control agai t Nash. Nash reversed Joe into the ropes and threw an elbow to the chest, knocking Joe down. Booker then tagged in and exchanged cho with Joe. Booker didn't like his end of that, so he poked Joe's eyes. Nash hit Joe from behind on a rope rebound. Booker then KO'd Joe with an axe kick. Styles broke up the pin attempt. Nash tagged back in and hit a side slam for a two count at 8:00. Styles hot-tagged in at 11:00 and took shots at both heels. Booker avoided a corner charge, but Styles rung right back with a flying forearm. He a lied an armbar submi ion on Booker, but Nash broke it up with a headbutt. Joe put Nash in the rear naked choke. Booker broke it up from behind, knocking Joe to the floor. Booker went for an axe kick, but Booker avoided it and hit the Pele kick suddenly for a clean pin. Styles and Joe celebrated with the Small Young Jo ers (that's a comment on how they're booked, not who they are or could be) who walked out onto the ramp after the win.
WINNERS: Styles & Joe in 12:00.
STAR RATING: **1/2 -- Good tag match. All four contributed to the match nicely.
-Lauren interviewed Aby about facing Kurt Angle later. She asked if he's 100 percent recovered from the bur . Aby said, "Thanks for asking." He said he's fine; it's just a flesh wound. Matt Morgan yelled, "Just a flesh wound!" He said mentally he wa 't fully into his match agai t Angle two weeks ago, and he doe 't believe Aby is either mentally or physically ready. Morgan said he can't be out there to help him. Aby said he ha 't forgotten Angle ri ing at his bandages two weeks ago.
[Commercial Break]
-A TNA Cro the Line vignette aired.
-A recap aired of last week's Mick Foley a ouncement and aftermath.
-Borash interviewed Sting backstage. He asked him what he thinks Foley, "your new bo ," will have to say to him in a few minutes. Sting noted Borash's sarcasm. "I gue I know where you stand," he said, adding that nobody has confirmed to him that Foley is his bo . He said he ha 't talked to him in over a decade, but he's going out there with an open mind and he hopes he doe 't close it.
[Commercial Break]
-Mick Foley walked to the ring. Tenay referred to him as a new "executive shareholder." Foley asked, "How about this brand new Impact Zone?" he said. "Even without the Mick Foley poster over there, it looks pretty good."
He told viewers to call their friends and tell them to vote, and while they've got their ear, be sure to tell them that TNA is in HD every Thursday on Spike TV. Foley then a ounced "two huge main events" for Turning Point: Kevin Nash vs. Samoa Joe and Sting vs. A.J. Styles. He said he wants to have a word with the TNA Champion, so he asked Sting to step out to the ring. Sting's music played and he walked out. Foley addre ed Sting saying this is the first time they've been face to face in about 14 years. He said he wants to go on record saying Sting put him on the map for the first time back in 1991. He said few people had heard of him until their matches. He said he has often wondered where his life would have ended up had Sting not entered into it. He said that's why it made it all the more difficult last week to see Sting standing among the Main Event Mafia. He said in his opinion, TNA is on the verge of something very, very big. He said all of the pieces are there and he sees Sting's role being the glue that holds it all together. I tead, he sees him as a wedge driving those pieces apart for good. He wants to know what he has to say on his behalf.
Sting said all along he wanted to be the glue. He said his intentio and motives were pure, but he was rejected by the younger wrestlers. He asked Foley if he has re ect for Terry Funk. Sting said that's the mi ing ingredient from TNA. He said if he's not careful, that next generation is going to show him disre ect, too. Foley said they'll have to agree to disagree and it's clear he'll do what he has to do, but he will do the same. Sting said he understands that, but added: "Mick, this is not your war; it's mine." Good segment. One of Sting's more focused interviews. Good drawing from history by Foley, who oke the truth about the feud with Sting being a real advancement for his career.
-Backstage Angle shoved Borash away as he asked a question, then addre ed the camera directly. He asked Jeff Jarrett how long he'd hide behind a desk. He said he'll keep going through everyone in TNA until he gets to him. He said that's his o e ion. He said he's been champion everywhere he's gone, but now he wants to get his hands on Jarrett. "I'm capable of doing anything, Jeff. Anything!"
[Commercial Break]
-Tenay and West ran down the Turning Point line-up: Nash vs. Joe. Bashir vs. Rhino, Sting vs. Styles, Gu vs. Beer Money Inc., and Christian vs. Booker T.
5 -- KURT ANGLE vs. ABYSS
When talking about the friendship and chemistry between Morgan and Aby , West said Morgan is perha the best influence Aby has had in years. They seem to avoid talking about Jim Mitchell by name, although it's a logical storyline to have Mitchell return down the line with a true counterforce as soon as Aby seems to find some stability in his life and career.
After a couple early lockouts, Angle bailed out to ringside. Aby chased him down, brawled with him, and then fought him back into the ring. Aby clotheslined Angle over the top rope to the floor with a blunt forearm. Angle retreated into the crowd. As Aby chased him down, they cut to a break.
[Commercial Break]
Aby threw Angle back into the ring after the break. Angle turned the momentum with a leg clip, taking Aby down and then concentrating on grounding Aby . Aby , though, made a fast comeback with a clothesline and a corner lash. West said he was feeding off of the emotio of the crowd, although they weren't exactly going crazy. Aby hit Shock Treatment for a near fall. When he went for a chokeslam, Angle rolled through into an anklelock. Aby powered out at 10:00 and hit a chokeslam for a near fall. Angle fired back with an Angle slam for a near fall of his own. Angle climbed to the top rope and set up what West called "a backwards moo ault"; is there any other kind? Aby caught Angle at the top and powerbombed him to the mat for a near fall. Angle gra ed a chair at ringside. Aby went after Angle, but Angle hit him with a chair. The ref called for the DQ. Thum up to Aby for bringing up his forearm to a orb some of the chairshot. Same effect, no concu ion or brain damage.
WINNER: Aby via DQ in 11:00.
STAR RATING: **1/4
-Angle attacked Aby afterward. He held him facedown on the mat and scratched at his back, scraping his bur through his shirt. Angle then a lied the anklelock. Morgan ran out to make the save. He took Angle down with a big boot. Booker and Nash ran out to stop a further beating. Nash hit Morgan flush in the skull with a chair. So much for TNA cracking down on flush chairshots to the skull. Nash shoved the top of the chair agai t Aby 's throat. The Small Young Jo ers and Samoa Joe ran out for the save. Scott Steiner followed from behind, making his return to TNA after a long injury layoff. He brought a pipe into the ring and hit the SYBs. Nash, Angle, Booker, and Steiner beat down the babyfaces as West noted the added experience Steiner gives the Main Event Mafia. Sting walked out in his suit. He entered the ring and helped Styles to his feet. Styles it at Sting. Sting gave him a Scorpion Death Drop. West said he thinks Sting was trying to show re ect, but what did Sting expect Styles to do after the beatdown by Sting's buddies. The show ended with the MEM5 and Sharmell standing together mid-ring.

WWE SMACKDOWN FLASHBACK REPORT
OCTOBER 3, 2008
TAPED 9/30/08 IN GREEN BAY, WIS.
DEBUT ON MYNETWORK TV
REPORT BY GREG PARKS, PWTORCH COLUMNIST
-WWE Open.
-The new Smackdown opening montage and theme aired.
-JR and Tazz plugged Smackdown’s all-star kickoff, then graphics showed the wrestlers from all three brands who will be present tonight, ending with The Undertaker, who got a big pop.
-They also plugged Jericho vs. Triple H vs. Matt Hardy for tonight.
-For you trivia buffs, Jeff Hardy was the first to make his entrance on MyNetwork TV. He came down for an eight-man tag match. During his entrance, Tazz mentioned that Vickie Guerrero wa ’t in the building, and wondered who was ru ing the show.
1- JEFF HARDY & REY MYSTERIO & FINLAY & BATISTA vs. MVP & JBL & THE BRIAN KENDRICK & KANE
During MVP’s entrance, Hurricane Helms po ed in to say that if MVP is the highest-paid star on Smackdown, he wants his money back. Something tells me the entrances will end up taking as much time as the match.
Finlay and Kendrick started the match for their re ective teams. Fit used his smashmouth style to ground Kendrick, then tagged Batista. Back in was Finlay, who held the advantage over Kendrick on the outside of the ring. Hor woggle even got into it, throwing himself onto MVP as the show went to break.
[Commercial Break]
Back from break, Kendrick continued to play the faces’ whi ing boy with Rey Mysterio in the ring. Kendrick got his first offe e agai t Finlay, then did his little dance, and u eknow t to him, Hor woggle was mocking him with a dance of his own in Kendrick’s jacket. Kendrick finally saw it and chased Horny, and Finlay chased Kendrick. Ezekiel played a part in sto ing Finlay. It was the heels turn on offe e, as both JBL, Kane and MVP had their way with Finlay. JBL and Finlay both found themselves on the mat, but both were able to make tag to MVP and Batista. Batista to ed MVP and Kendrick around, then hit a inebuster on Kane. Batista powerslammed MVP then Rey got on Batista’s shoulders and lashed MVP. Kane tri ed up Mysterio on a 619 attempt and pulled him out of the ring; the show went to break again.
[Commercial Break]
It was Kane and Mysterio in the ring out of break. They didn’t stay in the ring together very long, which was smart, as Kane tagged Kendrick in. JBL walked right in front of Batista, who was on the apron, and did his fall-away slam on Rey, looking at Batista all the way. That was cool. Batista broke up the three-count though. Hardy and MVP made simultaneous tags, and the crowd went wild. Things started breaking down after Hardy hit Whi er in the Wind. Mysterio hit a 619 on MVP then jumped on Kane, who was on the outside. Jeff hit his Swanton on MVP to pick up the win.
WINNERS: Hardy, Finlay, Batista & Mysterio at 20:09. Interesting to debut with a 20-minute match, knowing how WWE feels about matches “drawing” on free TV. Still, it was an action-packed match and a good choice to open things up.
-They showed highlights of the Big Show-Undertaker feud, and its begi ings at the last PPV.
-Show was walking backstage....and may be headed to the ring. Not sure though, as they chyron said “tonight,” rather than “next.”
[Commercial Break]
-Teddy Long, Tiffany and Mike Adamle were in Vickie’s office. Big Show walked in and asked what they were doing in her office. Tiffany asked how Vickie was doing and Show told them to leave HIS office. Chavo walked in after they left, still favoring his back. Chavo said they need to come up with a plan so Taker doe ’t get to him tonight. Show told him to shut up and that he’s in charge. Chavo said he’s a Guerrero and he should be in charge. They argued over whose fault it was and Show put Chavo in a match and said if he doe ’t wrestle that match, he’ll face Show himself.
-Santino Marella and Beth Phoenix came out. Marella said unle you’ve been hiding under JR’s hat for the last year, you know who he is. He put up the Honk-A-Meter, and he was listed as holding the belt for 6.71 weeks. Santino said Shelton Benjamin was only champion of the United States, while he was champion of all the land ma es protruding out of the seas. In other words: Planet Earth. Santino faces Shelton next.
[Commercial Break]
-Shelton came on the big screen first, and called Santino Beth’s girlfriend.
2- SANTINO MARELLA vs. SHELTON BENJAMIN
Santino gra ed a headlock and said “See? I told you! I am the best!” The definition of eaking too soon, because Shelton took over with a boot to the face and a short-arm clothesline. He got a few more moves in before R-Truth’s music came on and he started ra ing his theme in the crowd. Shelton continued punishing Santino in the ring. Benjamin finally got distracted once Killings got to the front row, and that allowed Santino to pull Benjamin off the ropes and roll him up for the win.
WINNER: Marella, at 2:12.
-R-Truth went up the aisle and once at the top of the ramp, looked at Benjamin in the ring and shouted “What’s up!?”
[Commercial Break]
-The Big Show came out. Show made it a point to talk to Vickie and said he had arranged a ecial match to make Vickie feel better.
3- CH***O GUERRERO vs. MARK HENRY & THE GREAT KHALI
Chavo jawed at Show when ring a ouncer Justin Roberts a ounced that the o onent was Mark Henry. It only got worse from there.
Henry with a very wet headbutt after a blocked Chavo punch. Khali quickly tagged in and landed his skull chop. Henry came back in and hit the World’s Strongest Slam, then tagged Khali. Good teamwork by the heels, I su ose. Khali locked in the vice grip for the victory.
WINNERS: Henry and Khali, at 1:38.
After the match, Show punched Chavo with a straight right hand outside the ring. Show got the mic and told Undertaker he hoped he was watching and said that punch could be coming for Taker at No Mercy. The bell tolled and the lights flickered on and off. Show managed to get to the aisle and when the lights came back on, Taker was in the ring. The two stared at each other and Taker did the throat-slash gesture.
[Commercial Break]
4- TED DIBIASE & MANU & CODY RHODES vs. PRIMO & CARLITO & CM PUNK
The three next generation guys did an i et interview before the match and said that the Raw brand was supreme. Carlito said it was su osed to be 2-on-2, but he knew that Manu would be outside the ring and then proposed a six-man tag. Well, I thought it was already a six-man. Primo stole Carlito’s line again and then Punk was introduced as a partner.
The heels worked over Primo, mainly in their corner. Manu did a diving headbutt, shades of yes, Umaga. Double-stomp by Dibiase on Primo. Primo almost made a tag, but couldn’t quite get it. Ru ian leg-sweep by Cody. Primo finally made a tag, and Punk came in and cleaned house. Cody broke up a pin attempt by Punk on Dibiase and all six guys came in the ring. Carlito and Primo dove onto Rhodes and Manu on separate sides of the ring, while Punk hit the GTS on Teddy for the win.
WINNERS: Primo, Carlito and Punk, at 4:15.
-Je e and Festus were watching backstage, and JR thanked them for helping WWE move to MyNetwork TV. They were still clad in their MyMovingCo clothes and had boxes that said that littered around their locker room.
-A bunch of divas came out for a Divas Lumberjack match, which is next.
[Commercial Break]
5-BETH PHOENIX vs. MICHELLE MCCOOL- LUMBERJACK MATCH
They really could’ve saved this match for a PPV. I know, WWE thinks women don’t draw on PPV so why save a match for that when you can give it away on TV? But if they built it up correctly as a brand champion vs. brand champion, or if one of them were to switch brands, it could be big.
Beth shoulder-blocked Michelle down, and McCool came back with a roll-up for two. Beth got some interesting power moves in, including a complicated bell-to-back suplex. Interestingly, neither women went to the outside for quite a while. Kick to the face by Michelle for two. Beth rolled to the outside, as did McCool. She got jumped by the heel divas, and the face divas made the save. Maryse punched Michelle, but that didn’t seem to really slow her up much. Maryse tried to interfere again, but Michelle kicked her away. But it allowed Beth to hit the Glam Slam for the win.
WINNER: Phoenix, at 3:47. Awkward in a few ots, but for the most part, it was solid. They both have their strengths in the ring, and it would be interesting to see how they’d do if given more time.
-They plugged the main event champion vs. champion vs. champion.
[Commercial Break]
-A video package previewed HBK and Chris Jericho’s match at No Mercy.
-JR and Tazz previewed the No Mercy card.
-Matt Hardy and Triple H came out for the champion vs. champion vs. champion match.
[Commercial Break]
6- MATT HARDY vs. TRIPLE H vs. CHRIS JERICHO- TRIPLE-THREAT MATCH
The three started by jaw-jacking with each other, then Jericho got double-teamed. Triple H was the last man standing after Jericho got thrown into the ring-post shoulder-first, then Hardy got DDT’d by Tri . On the outside, Hardy to ed Triple H head-first into the a ounce table. Jericho hit a ringboard dropkick on HHH, who collided on the apron with Hardy, and both men went down. The show then went to break.
[Commercial Break]
Hardy did the yodeling elbow onto Jericho as the show came back. Jericho continued his o laught on HHH that started during the break. And as I type that, HHH hit a inebuster on Jericho. Jericho threw Triple H out of the ring and Y2J went to work on Hardy. He tried a super-plex, but we got the powerbomb/super-plex combo with Triple H that we do in EVERY triple-threat match now. All three men were down, but HHH laid an arm over Jericho to get a two-count. Jericho locked in the Walls of Jericho on HHH. Triple H nearly got to the ropes, but Jericho pulled him back to the center of the ring. Hardy interfered to break things up. I ide cradle by Hardy for a very near-fall. Hardy hit some of his pet moves, and avoided the Codebreaker. Hardy hit the Side Effect on Jericho, but Triple H uck in to hit the Pedigree on Hardy for the win.
WINNER: Triple H, at 12:21. Well, it was the obvious outcome. I don’t mind Triple H wi ing because he IS the champion on Smackdown.
After the match, Jericho hit the Codebreaker on HHH. Jericho went under the ring and retrieved a ladder. He knocked Matt out with it. He was about to slam Matt into it, but Jeff Hardy made the save and knocked Jericho out of the ring. After checking on Matt, Triple H came from behind, but Jeff hit him with the Twist of Fate. Jeff got on top of the ladder to dive on Triple H, but Vladimir Kozlov came out. Kozlov headbutted Hardy in the chest as Jeff jumped on him, then hit a reverse DDT on HHH.
