Thorn bug family (Umbonia )
had no macro equipment to do this shot but I thought they were so cool and I must do this =)
Treeho ers and thorn bugs are members of the family Membracidae, a group of i ects related to the cicadas and the leafho ers. There are about 3,200 ecies of treeho ers in over 600 genera. They are found on all continents except Antarctica, although there are only three ecies in Europe.
They are best known for their enlarged and ornate pronotum, which most often resembles thor , a arently to aid camouflage. But in some ecies, the prontoum grows to a horn-like exte ion, and even more bizarre and hard-to-describe shapes are also found (Wiki).

Hola Daniel, I found and photograph my first
Treeho er today ! And in my garden :) Not as
showy as yours, but interesting.. Black and
Yellow, without a horn... I'll send you a
picture one day ;) I'm so in late in my
picture editing, its terrible ! Have a good
week end and Holy week :)

fijate vos, que yo encontre en mi jardin, 2
semanas entes
por la primera vez, el Umbonia cra icornis,
so great, but only a small colony sho stay
there for about 3 weeks, there was both
female (like on your picture) but also the
males....
And it is on the same tree (Albizia .)
who's the home of a large colony of the other
Treeho ers that I mention you more up, the
Membracis mexicana, who looks much more
common here ! Now I can't wait to find more ecies, I fell in love with them, when I
look on flickr, they are some so fantastic !
So man...., when are you visiting me ?
Ah, and tomorrow I'm going to go to a place
with a friend, to try to found the famous
Ro iglo um grande, lets cro the fingers !
Its been so over collected like the Lycaste
ski eri and other showy orchids here, that
its almost impo ible to found it anymore in
nature :( .....
