Middleton Surf Trip and Fantastic Noodles Pro Junior 2011
? &&& The Wrap Up
This year's Pro Junior was&held at Waitpinga Beach with amazing 6 foot plus surf.& There were 8 members staying at Middleton Point for the 4 days, with extra girls turing up at the comp&and a few dropping in&for a skate around the car park near our shack!
We were lucky to witness some awesome&surfing by Australia's best junior surfers in perfect conditions.&&Yes, it was freezing down there, but we rugged up and supported all the locals and interstate visitors.&
We were&so stoked&to meet Nikki Van Dijk, up and coming surfer from the movie "First Love".& She spoke with our young surfers, Yasmin and Taylor, who were just a little bit star struck and probably the quietest I've ever seen them!& Nikki thought our&club was awesome and wished she had something like that back home on&Phillip Island, Vic.&&Nikki lost her semi final, unfortunately,&but watching her surf was incredible.
It's such an inspiration to all our surfers watching&this level of performance, and being there&gives you a close up feel of what it's like to be a top competing surfer.& Set your goals, and go for it.&

Club Competition
? &&& The Wrap Up
Held Sunday 26th June at Moana Beach
Our second club comp&was held at Moana with&some good swell&pushing through&producing 1.5 to 2.5 foot peaky waves.&
A combination of surfers, parents, friends, photographers and passers by&created a great atmoshphere&at the top of the steps at Moeys.& Around 50 people braved the chilly conditions and showed their support for SurferGirls.&&
The surf was peaking at various spots from along the reef&and to the south a few hundred&metres.& It was a bit of a battle to keep on the spot and surfers were constantly&paddling to keep their positions and vie&for the best take off.&
Under 12's - 1st Place Hannah, 2nd Place Yasmin, 3rd Place Amy, 4th Place Jordan
Unders 18's - 1st Place Hannah, 2nd Place Mia, 3rd Place Zuzu
Open Long Board - 1st Place Cheryl, 2nd Place, 3rd Place Emma
Open Short Board - 1st Place Erika, 2nd Place Bri, Equal 3rd Leah and Emma

Let's go surfing - Sunday 5th June
? &&& The Wrap Up
One of the coldest, windiest, dodgiest surf&days in a while, but still a great turn out for SurferGirls.& This was an 8.30 gathering at Moana Beach for a workshop on Competition surfing.& 30 girls and their families came along to get the latest information on surf comp criteria.& Club rep and Surfing SA judge, Leah Enthoven, presented a talk on what the judges look for and how waves are scored.& She explained about competition procedures and how to get the best out of your wave.&
The girls then hit the water for over an hour in fairly bumpy, choppy conditions affected by the&NNE&winds& There were some&peaks out the back but the girls struggled to paddle out against the tide and swell.& It was great to see so many girls and women&in the water doing their best and enjoying the tricky conditions.&
Gotta love the kids for going for a swim after&their surf - Hanna and Zuzu, just loving their time in the ocean.&& And 5 year old Tahlia who just&plays in the shallows&while her sister Yasmin surfs.& Yep, winter in Adelaide, doesn't&stop us!&&&&
Thanks to Mel and&Michael for providing hot chocolate, coffee and cakes for everyone to enjoy after the surf.
We continued our gathering down at the&local cafe and enjoyed a hot breakfast, hot chips&and more coffee.

SurferGirls to star on Channel 10'sTotally Wild
? &&& The Wrap Up
Channel 10's Totally Wild crew is running a segment on their show about SurferGirls.&&The filming and interviews took place on Tuesday at Goolwa Beach with 3 SurferGirls members - Zuzu, Yasmin and Hanna doing all the hard work, staying in their wetsuits for around 3 hours, doing a great job with all the takes and sound checks and getting the camera angles just right!& Stay tuned for&details&of realease date in&around 4 to 6 weeks time.& Thanks to Eleanor at Channel 10 for organising this gig and a big thanks to presenter Kayla for being so relaxed&and helpful with the girls during the shoot.
Cutloose Girls Wetsuit and Movie Night
A great night at Cutloose Surf Shop last Friday 27th,&with Leah and the crew giving us all the info on wetsuits, throwing away random prizes and then sitting back watching one of the latest surf movies 'First Love'.& Around&60 to 70&surf-crazy&girls and women&hit the Cutloose store and enjoyed the free&champagne and nibblies followed by popcorn and choc top icecreams.& Thanks go to Surf Culture Australia, Alice Bell Photography,&Surreal SurfArt Gallery, Wella Professionals/Sebastian Products&for their generous donations on the night.& Congratulations to the lucky winners!&
